The almost gone is a cute minimalistic artistic escape room puzzle game set across 5 chapters each with their own unique feel and looks whilst maintaining the escape room searching for hints and puzzle pieces to put together in order to complete the requirements to allow you into the next area to progress the game towards completion.
I remember a game called the red door which very much had a similar feel and style which was a browser game and this definitely reminds me with similar feels however this is set within a fully fledged and much longer game.
The puzzles in the game are clever and mix between observational puzzles and traditional assembly or find the missing items to bring an experience which feels varied as you make your way from area to area.
Beyond this there is a storyline which twists and entwines it’s way through the area’s like the branches you will find encroaching into each area, uncovering the mystery along your journey which provides even more interest and rewards you for completing the puzzles blocking your progress.
Overall the game took me around 2 hours to complete, the puzzles weren’t a huge barrier to completion but did provide some situations which required a little thought or consideration as well as hunting for the clues and solutions along the way, and hints are provided towards the solutions or what to do next so you’re never left feeling like you don’t know what to do or where to go, so if you’re a fan of this sort of game I would recommend going and checking it out for yourself.
