Having been through over two years of sleep deprivation as a result of antisocial tenants in the flat above me and my landlord doing nothing about them and in fact rather than investigating the issue they chose to discriminate against me for having suffered from depression, and deciding to frequently demand my doctors details and claim that is their action towards solving the problem, which lead to years of suffering severe sleep deprivation being lucky to get 4 hours sleep split up through being woken and kept up by antisocial levels of noise, causing damages to my health, and severely effecting my depression so I had little energy to be productive and often even resulting in difficulties in life, as well as neglecting my site here and putting out poor quality content whilst depressed and having little energy to do anything.
I had to as a result of the discrimination faced involve my mp and even go as far as involving the local government ombudsman to get things resolved and actually investigated but this was still a slow process, having taken over a year itself to get action taken about the antisocial tenant, while their binbags piled up attracting rats outside in a gigantic trash mountain which itself took a year to get the council to do anything about, and finally eventually being provided asb diaries after over a year of suffering the antisocial behaviour, it took a further year for those antisocial tenants to be removed, and life was good for a while where I was able to rest and sleep and be more productive, however the replacement tenant they bought in it seems that was deliberately sought out to have exactly the same problems, piling up trash not using the wheely bins, and staying up all night making deliberate antisocial noise.
So as to avoid this becoming a habit for the new tenant I reported this and expected the council to talk to the new tenant and outline reasonable behaviour and ensure he used his bins, looked after his share of the garden and didn’t stay up all night making deliberate antisocial noise, yet the council once again decided to take a path of discriminating against my mental health issues, of course in the process they lied to me claiming that they would talk to the upstairs tenant, however after a few attempts to get them to speak to the antisocial tenant they claimed they needed to speak to me first, however upon meeting the council worker with a smug grin stated he would not speak to the upstairs tenant, made discriminatory claims that because I’ve suffered mental health issues in the past and it’s possible for “mental health issues to result in imagining noises and sounds” which is outside of the realm of issues I’ve ever suffered and was very discrinitaroy. Also he kept pushing that because I’ve stated that my mental health is suffering from the sleep deprivation that he was twisting it to claim that my mental health was the issue preventing me sleeping which isn’t the case and never has been, and once again demanded that I provide my doctors details and that this is a solution to the problem. Obviously as a result of this discrimination I contacted my mp having already began an investigation with the ombudsman and him being my appointed representative as you have to go through the mp for these matters, as a result the council claimed that I had gone outside of the realm of complaints and insinuated that I’m a serial complainer (because they ignore complaints that are valid to such a state that I have to go outside to get things resolved)
As a result of involving the mp and mentioning how I had been discriminated against, after a few months of the new tenant moving in and being antisocial nightly deliberately, sometimes even shouting “goodnight” for half an hour after having stomped slammed and shouted for most of the night until 4am before letting me finally sleep as to taunt that he’d kept me up and was finally going to bed, before being woken up at 7am the next morning not being remotely allowed enough sleep to be healthy, which always left me feeling so drained I couldn’t operate and desperately needing sleep. I’m going a bit off track there, anyway after involving the mp who made sure that the council at least follow procedure they spoke to the upstairs tenant who admitted to being deliberately antisocial, yet they still insisted on blaming my mental health and pursuing me rather than the actually antisocial tenant so I had to push further complaints to ensure the procedure was correctly followed, eventually I got them to speak to the neighbour (who they made excuses for saying he’s a refugee and how he’s never had a home to himself before etc) so as a result of them making such excuses I asked that they speak to him about acceptable behaviour and outline being a reasonable and considerate neighbour and stopping the antisocial behaviour at night, finaly they did, and whilst he does have seriously disturbing freakouts at times, like when I was watching the flash he screamed “ree” and stomped into the floor nonstop for the whole hour one time to such a degree I had to turn my tv up significantly to hear it over him, and another time on stream during singing he was shouting “what the fuck” and stomping into the floor repeatedly as though I was being unreasonable singing at 8pm which is a perfectly acceptable hour.
When the council member stated he wasn’t going to speak to the upstairs tenant with his smug look and also claimed that the upstairs neighbours share of the garden which has become overgrown suddenly was my responsibility despite previous council members claiming differently (because every time I have a valid complaint they try to create some nonsense claims against me in order to cause problems) at this point it felt that things weren’t remotely hopeful and I was going to be stuck in this nightmare situation once again for several years straight and the council weren’t going to do anything and were instead going to cause problems to such a degree that would cause problems for my tenancy, after this I ended up in the bank and the lady on the counter bought up the help to buy isa and said about how the government would provide an additional 25% of whatever you save, obviously because the government are bringing the ISA to an end but I got to wondering if there was somewhere that I could get somehow in order to escape, and this lead me to see a place listed for sale at a guide price of £5000 at auction, and being a single floor home with no above tenant it seemed ideal, after viewing it seemed a pretty perfect place, so hope was revived again.
Unfortunately the guide prices for the auctions were deliberately so low as to encourage further bidders, and whilst speaking to some nice people at the auction who also unfortunately were outbid on the properties they were interested in everything was going severely above the guide prices and this meant that the possibility of escaping this nightmare this way was not a possibility so I looked into other possibilities, as the council refuse to put in necessary noise isolation between the floors which are paper thin and literally have no noise reduction I started to look into other matters as I had also heard that the government may be approaching removing the right to buy for council houses, having seen a lot of mp’s complaining about it on politics live I decided to look at what the remote possibilities were after having researched that putting up noise isolation may cost £9000 but if I owned the place I may be able to get grants towards getting the work done on improvements to the place.
Looking into the right to buy I was surprised to see that there’s also a discount available based upon how many years of tenancy you’ve had in public rental homes, with houses having a 35% discount after 5 years and 1% increase per year thereafter, whereas flats like mine have a 50% discount going up 2% per year thereafter so there’s a possibility that I may be able to get this place and make it a liveable situation. Of course in the meantime my case came to a head and this is when the council finally spoke to the upstairs tenant and stopped his nonsense and deliberate antisocial behaviour, but my application is now in as the fear is that the antisocial behaviour could return especially with the upstairs tenants freakouts which occur. In the meantime I will now be able to return to being more productive, depression provided but at least I won’t be getting deprived of sleep and will be able to start getting better, not having to eat so many sweet things and chocolates to try and give me the energy to operate so now I’m on the quest to get back in shape again too.
My case with the ombudsman also ended, and after the council had claimed that I was a serial complainer on the matter, it was stated in the case that the council completely mishandled the entire situation and that they should not have operated as they did and that they wholly failed to investigate properly. I’ve only been provided £400 compensation which is distinctly not remotely equal to the suffering I was subject to due to these problems (where my vlogging youtube outlines much of it as well as previous posts on this site) though it does show that I was justified to go outside of the council with my complaints to get things resolved, and again it was wholly necessary to involve the mp in order to get the council to investigate the new tenant as otherwise they would’ve ignored it discriminating against myself and allowing the upstairs tenant to remain deliberately antisocial throughout the night.
I will be attempting to move forward and be more productive now I’m able to rest better, and whilst the singleplay games were bought in so I could put out quick reviews for short games or fairly simple games I never really posted them on here as writing reviews again was something that really required a lot of effort and really needed me in a not depressed mood to put out a decent review (which at times may have failed on lets highlight reviews I’ve written as I’ve felt depressed and not happy entirely with some of the reviews I’ve written feeling they’ve not been as great as I would like them to be or portrayed everything I’ve wanted to) Anyway as a result I will be doing a 12 days of Christmas sort of thing bringing 12 of the single play reviews over the days towards Christmas highlighting some of these single play sessions which I’ve briefly reviewed on my steam curator page, but deserve some recognition and might even be something you can pick up as a cheap little bit of fun in the steam sales as often these tend to be severely discounted or they’re something particularly fun amongst the single play games I’ve reviewed, so I’m going to bring some fuller written reviews of these games here over the days approaching xmas and the steam xmas sales.
